Love this desk in terms of the way it looks and how sturdy it is. No issue whatsoever with the use is it. The assembly of the desk took me over 2hrs because you have to pay close attention to the instructions and positioning of the different parts or you are going to have to end up undoing and redoing a few steps along the way. I’m over the setup now and completely satisfied with my new desk :)It’s a nice desk, however, it is easy to make mistakes when assembling. Each piece has specific hole patterns and the orientation in which you fasten them really matters. There is no indication of this on the instructions so I’d recommend reviewing the entire assembly book prior to starting, so you’ll know what part needs to go where and you can orient them correctly from the start.Otherwise, it’s a beautiful desk that does the job for a great price!I bought this desk for my husband because he was told he would have to start working fr9m home. He said he wishes it was a bit taller or adjustable.Purchased for my 12 year old son as it’s a little smaller than a full sized desk. Took my older son and I about an hour to put together. Instructions weren’t very clear and we initially put one of the pieces on backwards and had to backtrack a bit.We left the crossbars that form an X off entirely because there were absolutely no holes drilled that lined up. This didn’t seem to effect the sturdiness, thankfully.The rack that hangs on the side was almost impossible to screw into place because the holes didn’t quite line up, and if you screwed it in all the way it literally pushes the top of the desk up a good half an inch. We used the hooks that were intended for something else and it just hangs there.The cup holder is in a really annoying position, almost right in front of the chair placement. We left that off, too.The parts we were able to put together are at least durable and the compact size is convenient. Other than that, I’m not impressed. The design is deplorable and the instructions aren’t clear.I love the desk but the directions to put it together are not good. There are so many small nuances that really need to be pointed out when put together but it’s not so I had to take it apart and put back together multiple timesTo start off, the table was well packaged, making sure nothing can really move around within the box, and damage other components. Comes with a few extra screws, bolts, nuts, just about 1 extra of the smaller items just in case. Moving on to building the table... admittedly, the first time I put it together, I put it together backwards, my fault. Not that big of a deal, just flip everything around 180 degrees to get the actual tabletop screw holes to line up with the support beams. However, one thing I would note, was that some of the beams had some sloppy machining done to them. Two of them weren't properly threaded and cleaned, because there was still little metal Burrs in the hole, making it extremely difficult to thread the long screws into the hole. So, the extra components came in handy, as I used one of the spare screws to thread into the hole, clean out the burrs, and toss the now wasted screw. One thing I would slightly nitpick on is the outer table leggings. They have two spot welds on the top and bottom of said leggings, but the sides are completely open. Granted, there's probably enough integrity with just those two spot welds alone to hold up the table... as long as someone isn't pile driving or elbow dropping onto the table.Final critique is the Removable host board. Assembling that is, for the lack of a better word, painful. The pre-drilled holes in the host board are not even the size of the screws, so that the screws can self-taper into the wood, and get a firm grip on the wood. That's all well and good, however the holes did not line up with the 'feet' of the host board. At worst case, the hole was maybe a good quarter of an inch from the actual spot you would thread in the screw. That, and the little 'screwdriver' sent with the table makes it nearly impossible to self-taper the screw (Which in itself is NOT a self tapering screw), even on the event that the pre-drilled hole lines up with where the screw is supposed to go.All in all, I would rate this product 3.5 stars out of 5. It will get the job done for what you need it to do. Putting it together, as long as you listen to the instructions, and make sure everything lines up before putting together will help a lot. Decent product for the money, though be prepared to wait in this day and age. Had ordered the product, and waited a full month before it finally arrived.There were some parts that were bent. Instructions on the placement of the legs were unclear.Love this desk! The wood is beautiful. I like the shelves for extra room & the cup holder. Great for my smaller guest room. And the price is unbeatable. I know it won’t necessarily last 100 years and be an antique but it will last a long time taken care of! ???
